1. Resident Evil 7: Chapter 1 Mia
The first game on our list is an adapted version of Capcom’s hugely successful Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (read more about that game here).
In this version of the game, developed by Mr Wish in 2017, the player uses a point and click format to advance through actual scenes in RE7. When you click certain objects, animations take place and you can progress forward to the next scene.
The game is very well designed and is every bit as creepy as the original game. It uses Flash technology and runs smoothly on all common browsers. This is one of the free online horror games that we strongly recommend you try.

2. Five Nights at Freddy’s
This free online horror game was developed and published by Scott Cawthon and is available on Windows, iOS, and Android. Five Night’s at Freddy’s is an indie survival horror game that uses a point-and-click format.
The game is set in a fictional restaurant called Freddy Fazebear’s Pizza and in the first instalments of the game, the player takes on the role of a security guard working during the night at the restaurant. The restaurant has life-size animatronics that are used for children’s parties in the eatery, but there has been a history of security guards getting attacked and killed by the characters. The player’s job is to keep watch on the animatronics and maintain order.
As the name suggests, you must survive five nights, with each night having limited electricity and power supply to make the game that little bit creepier.

3. Slenderman Must Die: Industrial Waste
This is a fun horror game that is a good way to pass some free time. Slenderman Must Dies is a 3D shooting horror game in which the player takes on the role of an army soldier who gets lost in the middle of a war on an industrial waste site.
Nothing good awaits you there, faceless slenderman blobs attack you intermittently as you make your way around the industrial site and they provide quite a few jump scares as you cautiously turn corners not knowing what you are about to find.

4. The House 1 and 2
The House 1 and 2 are relatively short games, so we have decided to include it as a single entry on this list. The games are a point-and-click browser titles that have a dark, gothic style and are presented in a thoroughly creepy way.
In these games you have to solve puzzles by clicking on certain objects that are within your field of vision, finding the right combination of objects advances you throughout the different levels (or rooms) in the game where, without giving too much away, you will encounter some disturbing and rather spine-chilling happenings.

5. The Grudge
This game is based on the Japanese horror movie, The Grudge, and uses a point and click format in which the player navigates their way through different rooms using the mouse.
The game has a checklist of objectives based on the film that need to be carried out, such as journeying to the attic, collecting pills from the bathroom, and answering strange calls on the phone.
There is a handful of luck required to finish the game and it may take a few playthroughs. But that shouldn’t deter you, The Grudge is well-designed and swift horror game that is well worth checking out.
