4. The Lab VR
The Lab VR is a game that you want to show people when introducing them to virtual reality gaming – it’s fun, family friendly, and diverse. With a release in mid-2016, it is one of the earlier VR games to be released, but this game from Valve has stood the test of time rather well.
The game is set in the Portal universe and includes eight different games that each enable the user to experience different virtual reality capabilities. The games included in The Lab VR range from archery, human medical scans, repairing robots, and educational space jumps in the solar system. There are plenty more games, too, all of them unique with their own perks and gameplay value.
Perhaps the best mini-game is Xortex, which involves using a spaceship with the motion controllers to avoid incoming projectiles and slalom through obstacles in a virtual space world. Your spaceship can also fire back at enemies to diffuse any inbound danger.

The Ranger: Lost Tribe is a fun adventure RPG game that was released in the summer of 2017 by developer Leiting Interactive – the same developers of the addictive archery game, Deadly Hunter VR.
This free VR game takes place in the land of Roland, where you take on the role of a tribal ranger who senses danger afoot after a series of abnormal happenings. The chief of your tribe, the NaBaer, commissions you to deal with the problem.
The combat in The Ranger: Lost Tribe ranges from the typical virtual reality-friendly hack-and-slash to stealthily executed ranged and dismembering attacks – all are equally satisfying. Different weapons are available to the player and there is an option
Graphically, the game is colorful and has smooth textures. It won’t blow you away visually, but it is more than suffice for the gameplay to be enjoyable. The game also has a huge area to explore and there are various locomotive options available to traverse the land.

The Red Stare is one of the most critically-acclaimed virtual reality games available, so it’s quite surprising that you can download it for free. The game was released in mid-2017 by game developer PlayD.
In this free virtual reality game, you take on the role of a special agent who is undertaking a stakeout in 1950s New York. You must closely observe your neighbour, Norma, who has a briefcase that is of interest to the special agent. The Reds that have infiltrated the city are going to try and make this as difficult as possible for you.
The apartment room in which you are based provides you lookout location, and from here you receive faxes and phone calls from your superior, which unravels hints and clues about the case that you must observe carefully to complete the mission and successfully suppress The Reds.

Number one on our list of the 5 best free VR games is Rec Room. Released in the early days of modern virtual reality gaming, this 2016 title by developer Against Gravity is a massively multiplayer action adventure game that satisfies the needs of all kinds of gamers.
This free VR game is basically a sandbox social play area. Once you have customized the appearance of your character, you can enter locations, such as the Rec Center and The Park, and hang out with people from all over the world.
After making acquaintances and chewing the cud, players can choose various activities and minigames to play including, but not limited to, paintball, dodgeball, 3D charades, and laser tag. There is also the option to try thousands of player-created minigames and build your own rooms with 3D creation tools.
