Hey everyone, and welcome Blog of Games. Video games have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember – ever since me and my brothers received the NES for Christmas one year, along with Zelda, Mario, Punch-Out!! and a whole host of other timeless classics.
Throughout the years, I’ve owned various different weird and wonderful video game consoles, and maintained an interest in all things related to gaming. Though, as normal life started to take over, gaming naturally took a back seat.
Yet, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that a love of video games is something that will probably stay with me for life, and it’s better to embrace that fact rather than hide it. What better way is there to maintain an interest in gaming than to write about it?
A Friendly Community
I know there are lots of people out there who have been in a similar situation to me, feeling like they maybe should move on from gaming. Yet, I also know that most gamers do not fit the stereotypical gamer profile – withering away in darkened rooms for entire days, eating nothing but junk food.
If that is you, you are still welcome. There is no judgment here. I only hope to remove the stigma that is often synonymized with gaming, by creating an amiable environment to chat about a hobby you love.
It is my hope to create a community of like-minded, friendly gamers, where we can keep informed on all the latest gaming news and share our opinions, agreements, and disagreements on a whole load of different games across different gaming platforms.
The website will focus on three of my favorite game genres – open world games, rpg games, and horror games. That’s not to say I’m not a fan of other genres, I mean, I’m even partial to a bit of FIFA now and then – but, there’s no story to banging in a few goals here and there, it’s purely fun. There’s no immersion.
This site focuses on the games that provide that immersion, that take you on a journey, games that make you feel like you’ve just jumped into the screen and become a real-life protagonist – whether it be a highly-strung, trailer-dwelling psychopath; a charming, medieval monster hunter; or a cheery, sword-wielding blitzball player (shout out to the greatest game ever).
