Where to find Cut in Pokémon Red?
There are a few steps that need to be taken in order to find Cut in Pokémon Red and Blue.
Step 1 – Find Bill and get a boat ticket
Bill is an expert Pokémon Researcher who can be found on Route 25 in his Sea Cottage, just north of Cerulean City. Upon interacting with Bill, he will give you a ticket to board the S.S. Anne as a reward for running the Cell Separation on his PC and helping to transform him back into a human form.
Tip: If you leave and re-enter the Sea Cottage, checking Bill’s computer will give you evolution information about Eevee.
Step 2 – Board the S.S. Anne
After getting the ticket from Bill, head to the S.S. Anne. The ship is located at the port to the south of Vermilion City. The S.S. Anne has 3 levels, and you’ll want to make your way to the top level.
Step 3 – Defeat your rival and talk to the Captain
When you get to the top of the ship, you’ll encounter your archnemesis who will challenge you to a battle. Defeat your rival and go onwards to the Captain’s quarters. He will be throwing up in a bucket and will require some aid.
All you have to do is interact with the Captain and you will end up rubbing his back to alleviate his queasiness. After that, the Captain will reward you with HM01 which will allow you to use Cut in Pokémon Red.
How to Use Cut in Pokémon Red
You can use Cut in multiple circumstances in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. First you’ll have to teach the ability to one of your Pokémon. Once you have the HM01 from the Captain, you can select it from the item list in the menu.
Navigate to HM01 and interact with it. Select teach and then choose the Pokémon you want to learn the ability. That Pokémon can now use Cut in battle.
Another use for Cut is to chop down trees that block your path. To do this, approach the tree or bush that is in your way and open the menu. Navigate to the Pokémon sub menu and select the one which has learned Cut. From here, you will be able to use the ability and the vegetation blocking your path should be removed.
Which Pokémon have the Cut ability?
There are only a handful of Pokémon that can use the Cut ability, see who they are below.
Pokémon that can use Cut in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow:
Beedrill, Bellsprout, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Farfetch’d, Krabby, Lickitung, Oddish, Paras, Pinsir, Sandshrew, Scyther, Tangela, Tentacool.
Note: Evolved forms of the above Pokémon can also use Cut.
