Finding all of the Jecht Sphere locations is a side quest in Final Fantasy X that allows you to view the recorded memories of Tidus’ “old man”. They are located all throughout Spira and there are 10 of them all together. Collecting them all will also lead to the additional overdrive abilities for Auron.
All the Jecht spheres become available after you get the first one in Macalania Woods. If you decide to backtrack to get all of the Jecht Spheres before reaching the airship (and avoid the dark aeons), the best place to do this from is as soon as you get the first Jecht Sphere in Macalania Woods. This could take a good few hours, but it’ll be worth it in the long run. Simply work backwards from number 9 in this list, leaving only the Mount Gagazet one for later.
Read on for all of the FFX Jecht Sphere locations.
1. Macalania Woods – Spherimorph
The first Jecht Sphere location is not something you need to worry about, as you will acquire it as part of the storyline progression. You get it after defeating the Spherimorph boss in the Macalania Woods. This also triggers the availability of the rest of the Jecht Spheres.
2. Besaid Village
To find the Jecht Sphere in Besaid Village, simply go to the right of the Besaid Temple where Tidus first meets Yuna. It is not on the stone path next to the Temple, but rather on the grassy patch further to the right (see picture).
If you come to collect this Jecht Sphere after getting the airship, you’ll have to beat Dark Valefor, which is no easy task. You may want to backtrack and get it before getting the airship. Backtracking through the game can be time consuming, but if you’re pushing for Auron’s ultimate overdrive (which requires all 10 spheres), it’s definitely worth taking the few extras to go back and get it.
3. S.S. Liki
The third Jecht Sphere is on the S.S. Liki ship in Kilika. Go onto the ship and enter the captain’s deck. You’ll see it as soon as you enter the room on the floor to the right.
The Jecht’s sphere in Luca is located in the stadium and can be found just to the end of the hallway that leads to the Besaid Auroch’s changing room.
Speaking of the Auroch’s, if you like Blitzball you might want to check out our article about the best Blitzball players in the whole of Spira.
5. Mi’hen Highroad
For the Jecht Sphere location in Mi’hen Highroad, you’ll have to take the low road to find it. We found the quickest way to do this is to hire a chocobo, you’ll be there in no time. You’ll find it at the very south of the Old Road near a chest and circular structure.
6. Mushroom Rock Road – Precipice
Getting to this Jecht Sphere takes a while as the Mushroom Rock Road is a long, long path. It is located right where Lulu and Wakka have a chat before Operation Mi’hen. You have to take the rock elevators to the top, go past the save sphere, and then the sphere will be on the ground. See the picture for the map location.
7. Moon Flow – South Wharf
The Moon Flow Jecht Sphere location is pretty easy to find. Just get off the airship at Moon Flow and the sphere will be right in front of the large tent, on the floor and to the right (it’s on the opposite side to the save sphere).
8. Thunder Plains – South
To find this one, head to the Thunder Plains path south of the travel agency. The Jecht Sphere is located next to the second lightning tower as you head southwards.
9. Macalania Woods – South
The next Jecht Sphere can be found in the same location as the first one in Macalania Woods. As soon as you enter the woods, take the path to the right of the save sphere and you’ll see the sphere on the ground (see picture for exact location).
10. Mount Gagazet
The final sphere is the Braska sphere located in Kimahri’s neck of the woods at Mount Gagazet. Teleport to the Mountain Trail and work your way backwards from there. It’s a bit hidden away so you may have to do a little searching. You’ll find it down one of the side paths in a little crevice in the mountain (see picture for the map location).
If you’ve already backtracked to get the rest of the Jecht Spheres, this will be the last one to find, and you’ll be able to unlock all of Auron’s overdrives once you pick it up.
